Unite has published the findings of a survey revealing an epidemic of stress related illness mental health issues, charities and NGO staff.

The survey found that 80 per cent of respondents had experienced workplace stress in the last 12 months, while 42 per cent of respondents believed their job was not good for their mental health.

The Care Quality Commission is consulting on how inspectors can work better with voluntary sector organisations. The survey takes around 5–7 minutes.

This will include what to expect from the CQC and how VCSE organisations should share information with them. The CQC is looking to make changes at local level and is encouraging small and local charities and community groups to take part in the survey.

The Government has announced that it will begin the process of developing an experimental statistic based on the measure of poverty developed by the Social Metrics Commission. This is the process that all statistics need to go through before they become official national statistics.

 

The Brexit Civil Society Alliance has launched a campaign toolkit to help organisations to prepare for Brexit and engage with decision makers.

The toolkit can help with lobbying around specific pieces of legislation or equipping members and activists to engage over key areas of the Brexit process.

The Charity Commission has published guidance on how charities should manage their relationships with non-charities.

The guidance aims to ensure that these relationships are contributing to an organisation’s charitable purpose for the public benefit. It has been developed following an extensive period of sector consultation and is based on existing trustee duties.

Bristol City Council is consulting on its draft five-year strategy for homelessness and rough sleeping.

 

The strategy sets out information about the scale and causes of homelessness and rough sleeping in the city and how the council will prevent and tackle the issue.

 

 

Bond Cross-Sector Safeguarding Working Group has released a practical guide exploring six ways that trustees of UK-based NGOs should take the lead on safeguarding.

This guide is for boards of all UK-based international NGOs, regardless of size or whether or not they are directly involved in programme delivery.

A new Youth Charter will be developed to set out a vision for young people over the next generation and beyond.

The announcement was made last month by Mims Davies, Minister for Sport and Civil Society.

It is hoped it will help address the recent decline in the number of people taking up youth work training and give youth workers the skills they need to best support young people.

 

The Home Office has published a toolkit to help local authorities and community groups to support EU citizens and their families to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.

Bristol Safeguarding Boards are changing the way that they are organised and operate, moving from four multi-agency boards to a single partnership board.

The four existing boards include Bristol Safeguarding Adults Board, Bristol Safeguarding Children Board and the Children and Families Partnership.
