The Bristol LGBTQ+ Partnership is a partnership of LGBTQ+ community organisations in Bristol. This includes charities, community groups, and social enterprises supporting LGBTQ+ people in our city. This could be via providing services or hosting events or activities for LGBTQ+ people.
Voscur's role is to facilitate the partnership, including supporting the regular events and the steering group.
Our vision is to support LGBTQ+ community organisations to create thriving, well-funded and cohesive services for the LGBTQ+ community locally.
The LGBTQ+ partnership aims to strategically and systematically strengthen LGBTQ+ community organisations and build provision for Bristol’s LGBTQ+ community.
Our initial research in 2022 showed that there are only a handful of registered organisations for the LGBTQ+ community that are run by members of the LGBTQ+ community, and there are some services provided for the LGBTQ+ community by other charities. Additionally, there are many grassroots community groups that are run by volunteers from the LGBTQ+ community.
As the LGBTQ+ community is facing increasing rates of hate crime, some LGBTQ+ community organisations have closed in recent years and services to the LGBTQ+ community are underfunded.
The Bristol LGBTQ+ Partnership was established in 2023 to support services, provide a strategic and unified voice, share knowledge, and create community cohesion.
The LGBTQ+ Partnership is facilitated by Voscur, but the strategy of the partnership is planned by the steering group.
The LGBTQ+ partnership currently has an interim steering group, which consists of the following members:
Are you a volunteer or an employee of a charity, community group or social enterprise that supports LGBTQ+ people? We'd love for you to come along to one of our regular events.
The Bristol LGBTQ+ Partnership holds events every three months that are open for all charities, community groups and social enterprises supporting LGBTQ+ people to attend.
These events focus on a different theme each time. Previously, we've held events on fundraising and bid-writing, working in partnership with others, and campaigning. Attendees have been able to input into the strategic work of the LGBTQ+ Partnership, such as sharing the needs of our local LGBTQ+ community to inform our priorities.
