This business plan template has been developed by the Key Fund as part of a programme to increase access to social investment.

Voscur is a delivery partner in the programme and all the organisations involved are encouraged to share tools and resources through a learning network to spread good practice and increase its overall impact for VCSE groups.

This simple self-assessment tool aims to help you think about your organisation's current strengths and gaps in relation to income sustainability and the potential you may have to seek social investment.

It has been developed as part of Voscur's 2020 project to support organisational sustainability through social enterprise and social investment in the south-west.

The Small Charities Coalition has launched a new tool to help people register a charity.

The new guide can be found at: https://charitysetup.org.uk and is aimed at people looking to set up a charity where turnover is initially expected to be below £150,000 per year.

The guide aims to steer users through the logistics of setting up a charity in simple steps. It does not aim to provide a full and comprehensive guide to charity law – those who are looking for this should refer to the Charity Commission of England and Wales.

Voscur's popular AGM and Social Impact Awards are back for 2019-20, at the Great Eastern Hall of Brunel's SS Great Britain.

This event will offer the opportunity to network with key activists from across the VCSE sector, as well as with supporters from business, local politics, and the public sector. Following the formal AGM, speeches and drinks, we have the Voscurs - our social impact awards, celebrating the hard work of local organisations and individuals to support their community.

Charters are city-wide commitments to tackling certain issues or achieving specific social aims by setting standards and behaviours. They are council documents that are written by a working group made up of community representatives.

Financial Reporting Council (FRC) published a new corporate governance code in July 2018 for companies listed on the stock exchange. Charities aren't legally required to follow the code, however it provides useful best practice guidelines that could be applied to any organisation. The guidance on board effectiveness is particularly relevant to the VCSE sector.

The new Charity Governance Code published in July 2017 has brought into sharp focus the need to improve the diversity of trustee boards. It recommends that trustee boards periodically take part in training and/or reflection about diversity and understands their responsibilities in this area.
