The Charity Commission for England and Wales has just released updated safeguarding guidance that now includes safeguarding online. The guidance is aimed at Trustees but covers a lot of areas that will be of use to senior paid staff.

Voscur’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021 will take place on Thursday 25 November. It will include highlights from this year from Voscur and the VCSE sector, and will launch the VCSE Academy.

A new report from the Heritage Volunteering Group (HVG) has revealed that 40% of heritage organisations have no volunteering strategy, despite 45% of heritage organisations relying on volunteers to help with critical work, and 70% saying they could not function without volunteers. This suggests a huge gap between the need for volunteers and these organisations’ overall planning and sustainability.

A skills audit is an important measure for any board of trustees, as it identifies the skills that existing board members have, and the skills that are lacking. This can help the board recruit trustees that have the skills you are currently missing, and you can use it to assess the know-how of new trustees during their induction.
