Carers of all ages in Bristol are invited to share their views in a survey, to help inform a new strategy for Carers Support Services in the city.

The government is investing up to £11.8 million in additional funding for breakfast clubs in order to support disadvantaged families.

So far around 1,800 school breakfast clubs have been created or improved by the National School Breakfast Programme.

 

Join us to celebrate the launch of Period Friendly Bristol.

At January 2019’s City Gathering, ‘Ending period poverty’ was identified as one of the top three priority projects for the One City Approach to address in 2019. Following this, the city pledged to take a leading role in eradicating period poverty by making period products available to all who need them, while also combating outdated societal attitudes to menstruation.

Young people wishing to vote in next month’s general election have until midnight tonight to register.

Earlier this month, we called upon VCSE organisations working with young people and students to encourage their stakeholders to register to vote.

At Voscur we believe that voting is one of the most effective ways that citizens can exercise influence over the future of their country and community.

 

Bristol City Council is asking for your views on the support provided by the SEND Sensory Support Service and how it can be improved.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People and WECIL are holding this event to share information about proposals for the redesign of the service. You will have the opportunity to give your views about how the service is run and how you think it can be improved.

There will be BSL interpreters and speech to text available.

BAME creatives in Bristol

Rising Arts Agency has launched a new survey aimed at creative young people aged 16-25 from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds (BAME).

This youth work and arts sharing practice event is an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge, as well as share their experiences and best practice.

It will be an innovative, forward thinking event with a range of workshops and table discussions focussing on specialist areas of work, transferable music skills and sector development.

Lunch will be free of charge, followed by a networking activity and a music performance from young people.

Healthcare services BNSSG

Bristol Community Health is a not-for-profit social enterprise delivering NHS community healthcare services. It has just announced changes to three local health services.

Healthcare in five South West prisons, Bristol children’s services, and diabetic eye screening in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire will no longer be run by Bristol Community Health, and will be transferred from the social enterprise to new providers.

Following on from the first Safeguarding Community Conversation event in June (notes attached), Felix Road Adventure Playground and Voscur, would like to invite groups and community members from East Central to join us to continue the conversation.

Social Metrics Commission poverty report

The Social Metrics Commission has launched its latest report highlighting the scale of tackling poverty across the UK.

The report reveals that 4.5 million people are more than 50% below the poverty line, and 7 million people are living in persistent poverty.
