Solace Women's Aid has two types of grant available to not-for-profit organisations run for, and predominantly by and with, women (where more than 75% of trustees and more than 50% of staff, including senior staff, are women):

  • Seed funding grants - £500-1,000, for micro-projects that help women build skills and confidence, and reduce their social isolation - for example, through a creative class, meet-up or workshop.
  • Grants - £1,000-25,000, with two categories. Small grants are £1,000-5,000 and large grants are £5,000-25,000. These grants are designed to help organisations increase their capacity and run projects over a fixed period of at least six months. Your organisation's annual turnover must not be more than £1 million.

The funding is known collectively as the Empowering Women Fund, and it comes from the Tampon Tax grant scheme. £190,000 of the funding will be allocated to organisations in England.

Priority areas for funding include:

  • Education and employment support for women.
  • Legal support for women.
  • Supporting women and girls on low income.
  • Lesbian, bisexual or transgender women and girls.
  • Black and minoritized-specific women and girls.
  • Older women.
  • Women and girls who have complex or multiple needs, disabilities, or learning disabilities.
  • Work to formalise your organisation.

Unconstituted groups can only apply for seed funding.

Applications for round one close at 5pm on Friday 28 May 2021. For more details, click here
