Voscur's new Skills for Social Purpose programme will enable local women to use their existing life skills, plus new skills which will be developed on the course, to help them think about working and volunteering in the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

This programme will enable women to develop the knowledge, networks, and confidence they need to take up opportunities as volunteers, employees, trustees, directors and founders of their own community organisations and social enterprises.

The programme is open to the following:

Women who live in Knowle/Filwood, Southmead, or Lawrence Hill, who also meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Are from Black, Asian or other Ethnic communities
  • Are a lone parent
  • Have other caring responsibilities

The programme’s aim is to be as flexible as possible in meeting individual needs. If participants aren’t able to commit to attend every workshop or session, they will still be eligible. In addition, support will be available, for example with childcare, where caring responsibilities make attending sessions a challenge.
