Last week marked Small Charity Week, a chance to say thank you for all the small charities that have been working hard to ensure communities are supported, and to raise awareness of the importance of supporting them through donations, fundraising and volunteering.
As part of a national campaign to increase the support from central government for small charities, within the context of rising costs and rising demands, NCVO called on the Prime Minister to meet with the Small Charities Advisory Panel to discuss sustainable solutions to the difficulties facing these organisations. Voscur CEO Rebecca Mear, as well as over 1,000 other charity leaders, has signed the NCVO letter to the Prime Minister. Click here to read the letter in full.
Voscur will continue to support NCVO’s national work, using insight from local organisations to contribute to making positive change happen on a large scale.
Additionally, Voscur’s Development Director Mark Hubbard is also running to be elected to the NCVO board of trustees. If successful, this appointment would provide an additional route for local experiences to be channelled towards shaping national policy and strategy.
Mark has 25+ years of experience in the sector and is looking to focus on equity and inclusion, to positively contribute to NCVO’s goals, whilst also bringing the experiences from the local VCSE sector to a national stage.
If you are a NCVO member you have until Monday 17th July to vote, and you can do this online by clicking here. To read more about all the election candidates please visit the NCVO page by clicking here.
