Bristol’s City Office has launched a new iteration of the One City Plan. 

Launched in January 2019, the One City Plan consists of targets for 2050 on a range of socioeconomic factors that impact people’s lives in the city, as well as providing a blueprint for achieving these targets. 

It covers six main themes, including health and wellbeing, environment, connectivity, homes and communities, economy and learning and skills.  

The 2020 edition of the One City Plan includes revised actions in its timelines in response to changes in policy at local and national level, as well as feedback on last year’s version. It also includes new content from young people and the cultural sector. 

The new iteration has also been complemented by an annual report of the City Office’s activities over the last year and the launch of a new dashboard. 

Annual Report 

The annual report highlights a number of the City Office’s achievements in the last year. These include working with Bristol Green Capital Partnership to set up boards for the Environmental Sustainability and Economy themes, as well as helping to deliver projects like Bristol Housing Festival, City Funds, Feeding Bristol, Thrive and Stepping Up. 

One City Dashboard 

The One City Goals Dashboard allows citizens to quickly view detailed content within the plan. 

Over the long term it will also be used to develop a performance framework against the goals and visions set out in the plan.  

The dashboard is the first step in opening the plan up to a wider audience and the City Office is keen to get people’s thoughts and opinions on how both the plan and the dashboard can be improved.  

As well as being an easier way to present the plan’s goals and initiatives, the dashboard also demonstrates the interconnections between the different themes and sub-themes and using data to display progress towards the One City Plan.  

The One City Plan uses the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework for planning and measuring progress on the city’s ambitions. The dashboard helps to bring the flat One City Plan and UN Sustainable Development mapping documents into a filterable, searchable format. 

The One City Plan has 546 initiatives and the dashboard allows users to filter their view by theme, sub-theme, relevant Sustainable Development Goal, year or keyword.
