Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (BNSSG CCG) would like to hear the views of disabled people on healthcare services during COVID-19.

If you have experience of using healthcare services during lockdown and you also live with a physical health impairment, hearing impairment or learning difficulties, BNSSG CCG would like you to get involved by joining a Zoom call or dialling in via the telephone to share your feedback.

There will also be the opportunity to develop further feedback and conversations.

Small grants are available from the Voice and Influence Partnership's Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Community Fund, to be allocated to community groups that focus on Bristol's black and minority communities. 

Four grants of £250 each will be made, and can be put towards one-off projects or work you are already undertaking.

The application process is simple, and can be completed by email or post; applications close on Monday 27 July 2020.

Leaders from 36 national VCSE umbrella bodies, have signed a joint statement on the problem of race inequality in society and the sector and the impact this has on staff, volunteers and the communities that they serve.

The Black Lives Matter demonstration in Bristol recently amplified the message from the Black community that systemic racial discrimination and inequality must end, and end now.  Many people from Black and Asian communities in Bristol have been fighting this cause for decades and it is right that the entire city and its citizens now come together to embed lasting change and improved outcomes for our Black citizens politically, socially and economically.

 

Will the Test and Trace programme meet the needs of black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in tackling the racial disparity of COVID-19 cases?

This online discussion, organised by The Ubele Initiative, explores the govenrment's Coronavirus Contact Tracing and Advice Service and whether the contract tracers can meet the needs of racially diverse communities. It invites a dialogue between grassroots VCSE organisations, patient groups and senior NHS staff.

Public Health England has published its report on the disparity between COVID-19 cases and deaths in the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) population, and in the white or white ethnic population.

 

Older generations of LGBT+ people face social isolation harder than most during the COVID-19 pandemic, as they are less likely to have children or extended family to offer support.

Opening Doors London has organised this webinar to discuss how we can support older LGBT+ people's mental health during COVID-19, through written and phone-based communication. The webinar will be delivered on Zoom.

The Celebrating Communities Fund from St Monica Trust will help communities in Bristol, BANES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire come together in 2020.

Up to £250 of funding is available for individuals and unconstituted community groups, and up to £500 is available for registered charities and other community groups.
