For our next Learning from Lockdown, we’re again going back to the start of the coronavirus pandemic in spring to review the initial impacts on Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations, and the development needs that appeared as a result. This formed the basis for our latest briefing paper, available to download now.

Government issues updated guidance on volunteering in the pandemic

Following an initial update from the Office for Civil Society in early November, the government has issued new and detailed guidance on safe and effective volunteering in England during the coronavirus pandemic.

Charity calls for two weeks’ statutory bereavement leave in the UK

The charity Sue Ryder is calling for statutory bereavement leave to support people who are grieving. Whilst statutory paid leave would have an initial cost, Sue Ryder believes the long-term benefits outweigh this and offset the current £23 billion lost to the economy due to grief.

Office for Civil Society issues new guidance on volunteering during lockdown

The Office for Civil Society (part of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport) has issued new guidance on volunteering during the second lockdown in England, which is set to last from Thursday 5 November until at least Wednesday 2 December 2020.

Voscur Chief Executive recognised with an MBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours 

Voscur’s Chief Executive, Sandra Meadows, has been recognised with an MBE in the Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours list. Her MBE is in recognition of her service to the community of Bristol over 30 years and for her leadership and contribution to Bristol’s Covid-19 emergency response.
